Ford, useful for a billion dollars

The American carmaker returns to make profits.
In the last quarter (third quarter of 2009) Ford has recorded a profit for almost a billion dollars, 997 million to be exact. In the same period last year had recorded a loss of $ 161 million.
The 2008 ended instead with a loss of 14.6 billion dollars, while in the last 3 years the losses came to 30 billion dollars, and last year when there were profits was 2005. The turnover in the last quarter, however, fell by 2.5% over the same period last year, reaching 30.9 billion compared to $ 31.7 billion dollars in the third quarter of 2008.
According to Ford the exploits of the last quarter is due to three factors: the increase of its market share, cutting costs, and sales generated by the "Cash for Clunkers" program launched by the government scrapping incentives U.S..
For the future, Ford expects lower profits in 2010 due to the ongoing economic crisis, while in 2011 expects to get "solid profit".
Ford, unlike the other two major U.S. automakers General Motors and Chrylser, has not received aid from the U.S. government.
