Samsung begins production of GDDR5 memory at 7 GHz

Samsung has announced it has begun mass production of GDDR5 memory to 50 nm. Designed to support a maximum data transfer rate of 7.0Gbps (gigabits per second), the Samsung GDDR5 memory have a maximum bandwidth of 224 GB / s 448-GB / s depending on whether there is a memory bus 256-bit or 512-bit .
The new GDDR5 memory will work with a voltage of 1.35 V, 20% less than 1.8 V at which they worked the GDDR4.
Samsung expects that GDDR5 conquer 20% of the graphics memory market in 2009.
